A Timber Cove Resort Elopement on Film | Sonoma Coast Wedding Photography

This Timber Cove elopement along the Sonoma Coast was one I had quietly hoped I’d get to photograph someday.

I’ve known the bride for over a decade, from way back in our younger days when we all ran in the same circle of friends. So when she reached out to tell me they were planning a small, meaningful ceremony at Timber Cove just the two of them and their kids, I was genuinely thrilled. When I first learned they were engaged years ago, I had secretly hoped I’d be the one behind the camera if and when they got married.

As I headed up closer to Timber cove, and being so early I decided to make a stop at Jenner to get some gas and enjoy some Indian food at Jay’s Taste of India food truck. Had a great convo and a delicious little meal with a spectacular view at the Jenner Visitor Center. I actually meant to stop at deli in Bodega Bay but missed the turn and just kept going… anyway, I finally get to Timber Cove and it’ was just as lovely as I expected.

Timber Cove is one of those locations that feels intentionally quiet and grounded. Perched along the Sonoma Coast, it offers dramatic ocean views, open landscapes, and space to slow down. It’s especially well suited for elopements and intimate weddings where the focus stays on the people and the experience, not the production.

I photographed their day on digital and medium format film, moving through the property and capturing moments with their kids, quiet pauses, and their ceremony along the cliffs and at a few of their favorite spots on site. The pace was relaxed, unrushed, and deeply personal, exactly the kind of day Timber Cove supports so well.

When I arrived, it had been a few years since we’d last seen each other in person, so the reunion alone felt special. I finally got to meet Reuben, we caught up quickly, and then settled into photographing the four of them together, letting the day unfold naturally.

This is the kind of elopement that doesn’t need much explanation. Timber Cove, the coast, and a small circle of family were more than enough.
