Candid, Documentary Wedding in Woodside, California | Montana & Riley
When I pulled in for this couple’s celebration, I was immediately taken aback. Their venue, which isn’t actually a wedding venue - is such a total hidden gem! Tucked into a wooded pocket of redwoods just behind the Mountain House in Woodside, California. The bride spent many of her childhood summers here, so it wasn’t just a beautiful setting, it was also very meaningful. So choosing it for their wedding weekend felt like the most natural full-circle moment. The whole place has that slightly offbeat, charming energy that set the tone from the start: relaxed, grounded, and ready to celebrate.
From our very first consult, the couple was drawn to a more film-forward, documentary approach with an emphasis on candid captures. (And I like to think that, my super power is really capturing those candid moments!)
When I arrived, everyone was already in motion. It was truly all hands on deck, with friends and family pitching in behind the scenes to make the whole celebration happen. From the appetizers to the flowers and even the main course, everyone put their heart and skills into it. And when dinner rolled around the couple even served their award-winning chili! It just felt like the perfect extension of their wonderful love, energy and of course community. It was all so generous, unfussy, and completely them.
Shot mostly on film with some digitals to compliment their day.
